Ice Chalet in 1988
This is a pretty low resolution picture, but from a January 2011 edition of the Greensboro News & Record comes this picture of the Carolina Circle Mall Ice Chalet in early 1988, during the mall’s renovation. Presumably, this was right before the Ice Chalet closed.
On the right side of the picture is the famous Ice Chalet “Overlook Window” at Annabelle’s.

Spring Value Weekend Ad April 23, 1988
This is from the April 23, 1988 edition of the Greensboro News & Record.
It mentions how it’s still easy to navigate through the mall while The Circle creates its “New Look”. This obviously refers to the renovation that was going on at the time.
Trick or Treat Ad October 1987
This is from an October 1987 edition of the Greensboro News & Record.
Again, it’s very eerie seeing the Circle Crescent alongside a mention of the Ice Chalet.
The Circle’s Lighting Up Ad October 1987
Here’s another very interesting ad. I believe this ad, from an October 1987 edition of the Greensboro News & Record, is advertising the beginning of the renovation construction.

Wake Up Santa Ad November 1987
This is another rare “Ice Rink to Carousel Transition Era” ad from a November 1987 edition of the Greensboro News & Record.
Back to School August 13, 1987
This is from the August 13, 1987 edition of the Greensboro News & Record.
This is yet another major discovery in the “Ice Rink to Carousel Transition Case”. The Carousel/renovation did not go into effect until the second half of 1988.
However, this ad is from August of 1987, which was still the Ice Rink Era, however, the Carousel Era Circle Crescent emblem is used in this ad as well as other ads from this 1987/1988 era. It’s kind of weird. If anyone would care to explain this to me, please do.
