It Lived that Long?

At Flashback City, you've learned many things about different decades/eras. The majority of those decades mentioned at that blog were decades Carolina Circle Mall existed in. It lived in the 1970's, 1980's, 1990's, and 2000's. I'll discuss the importance of each decade the mall was in.

1970's: The mall was constructed and opened in this decade. The mall's design was mall ala 70's. The mall featured its trademark ice rink. The 70's was the decade of disco. Because of this, the mall featured a disco near Montgomery Ward.

1980's: The majority of the 80's was similar to the 70's, but was still unique. There were actually hot air balloons around the mall. The ice rink was still popular. The mall retained its outdated mall ala 70's. The renovation occured in the late 80's and brought favorites such as the food court, carousel, and lime green/pink color scheme.

1990's: The 1990's were my favorite. The mall had its interior late 80's/early 90's style, however retained its exterior mall ala 70's style. Unfortunately, the late 90's began the mall's disastrous slide into doom starting around 1997 when the carousel was removed.

2000's: The mall didn't really last long in this decade. Like the 90's, it retained the late 80's/early 90's interior design and the mall ala 70's style. The mall sadly went 6 feet under in early 2002 and was demolished in 2005.

To make a long story short, the mall lasted a good 26 years of power.

It had a good run, and I wish it could have lasted longer.

I agree. But I'm just happy that the mall was able to make it into the new milleniuum.

At least we had it around as long as we did.
